Transformative Learning

Before taking this class, I would not care about who is the author and what s/he done before. In this class, I learned that in order to make sure the article is scholarly, we have to prove the author is credible by searching his/her background information. The sources that we use for our essay should be scholarly and credible because our audiences are scholars.

In this class, we are learning about animal science. Such as animals’ cognition, social groups, communication and emotions. I learned a lot of interesting facts about animals. However, those cute animals are faced with many problems. For example, the issue of extinction of elephants. Because of the demand for ivory, human kill elephants in order to get benefits. “When the buying stops, the killing can too.” Reducing consumer interest in the products that made from ivory is very important for saving elephants. After taking this class, I hope I can do something for helping animals.

TWO Problems

Reading issues: We have a lot of reading in Writing 39C. However, I am not good at reading. I need to take a long time to read and understand an article or a book.

Research issues: For HCP draft, we need to found some researches that relate to our topic and review it. However, it is hard to find a suitable research. Once I found a research, I thought it is interesting and useful, but when I was writing my essay, I found that it is not suitable for what I wrote and I had to find a new research that relate to my topic.

A Plan for the Future

For reading issues, I will keep reading in order to expand my reading quantity. I will learn more vocabulary so that next time while I am reading, I can spend less time to consult a dictionary and improve my reading speed.
